M11   NGC 6705                              ISO 3200
The Wild Duck Cluster contains an estimated 2900 stars, one of the richest and most compact open clusters. 6th magnitude, 5600 ly away, in the constellation Skutum, close to the center of the Milky Way.

This globular cluster found in Hercules is only a faint 5.8 magnitude, and contains possibly several 100,000 stars at 25,100 light years away.
